Cumming kicked off the new year by being honored for its recruiting program via the 2023 Campus Forward Award.

In particular, Cumming was recognized for its university recruiting program (led by Lisa McKeon) and the firm’s commitment to developing, nurturing, and retaining the next generation of talent through a robust college recruiting and internship program.

Cumming’s Approach to Early Recruiting is designed to ensure that Cumming and the broader industry maintains a robust pipeline of highly qualified and diverse talent into the future:

  • Invest in early career hiring: Cumming’s future success relies on the firm’s ability to expand its talent pool by recruiting, retaining, and engaging new team members from the next generation. The university recruiting program strategically targets universities with reputable construction management, engineering, architecture, and related programs with diverse student bodies.
  • Commitment to diversity: Cumming’s 2022 intern class consisted of 45 interns from 24 colleges and universities throughout the country, reporting to 17 Cumming offices. Two-thirds of this 2022 intern class were from diverse and/or underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Impact: The intern program provides college students with an opportunity to gain valuable industry experience as they pursue studies in construction management, engineering, architecture, and related fields. Cumming’s program offers an excellent opportunity for the company to raise brand awareness among colleges, universities, and aspiring college students while helping to build a pipeline of entry-level talent. 50% of Cumming’s 2022 interns either came back for another internship with us this year or were hired full-time.

More About the RippleMatch Award

The recognition was presented by RippleMatch, an early recruitment platform that uses automation to help match job seekers with open roles while helping companies build diverse teams.

Winners were selected after a review of each company’s commitment to early career talent by exploring its internship programs, approach to recruitment, learning and development, candidate experience, and prioritization of diversity and inclusion.
