San Diego-based Cumming recently ranked at No. 33 among the nation’s largest construction management firms based on revenue in the latest annual ranking by the industry trade magazine Engineering News-Record, also known as ENR.

Cumming moved up from 36 on last year’s Top 100 Construction Management-for-Fee list. The company, which does project management and cost consulting work for international clients, had $51.2 million in 2012 revenue, according to ENR.

Cumming was started in 1996 and operates 19 U.S. offices and one in Abu Dhabi. A company statement said it first made the ENR list in 2005 and has ranked in the top 40 since 2008.

Two other San Diego-based firms also made the magazine’s Top 100. The Kleinfelder Group Inc. placed at No. 53, with $24 million in 2012 revenue; and Gafcon Inc. ranked at No. 63, with $20.5 million.

Engineering News-Record is a publication of New York-based McGraw Hill Financial. San Francisco-headquartered Bechtel was the largest construction management firm on ENR’s list, with more than $4.1 billion in 2012 revenue.
