Boston – Cumming, an international project management and cost consultancy, announced that Boston-based Fort Point Project Management has merged with the firm to expand its life sciences capabilities nationwide.

By adding one of Boston’s independent project management firms, Cumming will be able to continue to expand its Northeast presence with Fort Point’s local construction expertise and provide clients on a national level with the firm’s sector experts.

Fort Point Project Management primarily focuses on the life sciences, office, and healthcare sectors, leading projects ranging from utilization studies and integrated workplace management software implementation to tenant improvement initiatives, and complex ground-up construction.

“We have seen tremendous growth opportunities in Boston and throughout the Greater New England region in a number of sectors, but especially within the life sciences industry,” said Derek Hutchison, president at Cumming. “Venture capital funding for the industry is at record highs. Government bodies and major universities across the country are reaching out for guidance as they look to embark on these complex programming, design, and construction assignments in the life sciences sector. We could not be more excited to welcome Fort Point’s unparalleled team into our international family as they have a proven track record of managing these unique builds to support rapidly expanding client needs.”

The project management firm will continue the day-to-day operation of its current executive team during its structured merger with Cumming’s existing East Coast teams.
