San Diego-based Cumming, a project management and cost consulting firm, announced Tuesday it has hired Adrian Smith to serve as its new director of project management for its expanding private sector and corporate portfolio.

Smith will help manage nationwide project management assignments on behalf of Cumming and will focus on delivering a variety of energy, corporate office, pharmaceutical, gaming and hospitality, wastewater and high-end residential projects.

“Adrian possesses the inherent ability to effectively lead complex developments with a collaborative approach and we could not be more thrilled to have him join Cumming’s leadership team,” said Mike Jensen, chief operating officer at Cumming.

Smith comes from Faithful + Gould, where he was responsible for the operational management of the Phoenix office, and was the overall regional project and construction management lead for the firm’s key sectors within the Southwest.

Before his time at Faithful + Gould, Smith worked for several U.S. and U.K.-based construction management and development firms after earning master’s degrees in both business administration and construction management.

Smith is also an active member of the Project Management Institute and Chartered Institute of Building.
