Cumming Opens New Office in Washington, D.C. Area

BETHESDA, MD (February 10, 2012)– Cumming, a leading project management and cost consulting firm, has officially opened its newest office in Bethesda, MD, in order to better serve the Washington, D.C. market and the company’s many clients who are based there.

The new location is Cumming’s 19th office nationwide. The company specializes in the hospitality, government, education and healthcare sectors, among others, and made the decision to open the new office after several of its D.C.-based clients asked it do so.

“Our mission has always been to serve our clients and exceed their expectations,” said Derek Hutchison, a Managing Principal based in the new Bethesda office who oversees all service lines in the hospitality sector. “When one of our hospitality clients asked us to open an office here to be closer to their own base of operations, we began to consider it. Soon after that, two additional clients made the same request, and we quickly realized that this was the logical next step in the continued growth of our company.”

Since the recent opening of the office, Cumming has already secured new project management assignments in the area as well as additional cost management work for long-term clients in D.C. and New York City.

The cost management side of Cumming’s business will be managed locally by Sandy Gray, a Vice President of the company who will also oversee the operations of the new office. Mr. Gray, who has been with the company for 10 years, will focus on the healthcare, government, education, and science and technology sectors. The new office, says Mr. Gray, is long overdue.

“Cumming’s client base includes not only project owners who contract our services directly, but also a large number of architectural firms who repeatedly utilize our cost management expertise on their own projects.” Increasingly, more and more of the company’s architectural clients are based in the D.C. metro area, further solidifying the move as a solid strategic decision.

“It was not a matter of if,” says Mr. Hutchison. “It was a matter of when. And we’re thrilled to be here.” Cumming’s new office is located at 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 700, Bethesda, MD 20814, across the street from Bethesda Metro Station.
