The Green California Schools Summit, hosted by Green Technology, provides an annual meeting place for stakeholders in the greening of California’s schools. From facility managers, finance officers, and school administrators to architects, engineers and curriculum developers, the Summit features green products and services, educational sessions, keynote presentations and an annual Leadership Awards program.

Leading energy benchmarking and technical energy assessments for numerous California school districts, as well as helping several districts navigate through the Proposition 39: California Clean Energy Jobs Act 2013 Program Implementation Guidelines, Marez will provide a unique perspective to the panels based on her extensive energy efficiency involvement. Participating in two interactive discussions, Marez will offer insights into successful energy strategies for educational facility programs and dive into the challenges faced by school districts and community colleges across the state during these sessions:

  • E21 – A 21st Century Approach to Energy, Education and the Environment
    Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 3:00pm PT E21 is a strategic Panasonic initiative that offers an innovative, model approach to transforming how we bring together energy, education and the environment for the betterment of the educational system as a whole. Intended to be an interactive and engaging dialogue, conference attendees will discuss and provide feedback regarding the E21 model. Marez will be joined by: Doug Payne, Senior Business Development Manager, Panasonic Eco Solutions; Jonathan Jaffrey, CEO, Coronal Group; and Thor Misko, VP of Development, Project Lead the Way.
  • Prop 39 and Local Job Creation
    Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1:15pm PT
    This special workshop for K-12, community colleges and career tech education stakeholders will address the job creation aspects of Prop 39, from strategies and resources to help create on-campus training programs and contracting opportunities for local, small and diverse contractors in the energy efficiency sector to guidelines for tracking jobs created by Prop 39-funded projects. Marez will be joined by: Veronica Soto, Program Manager, Emerald Cities Collaborative; Tim Rainey, Executive Director, California Workforce Investment Board; John Oslzewski, FedOSHA and Special Programs, LATTC; and Joe Sullivan, Director of Energy Solutions, IBEW/NECA/LMCC.
