NEW YORK – (Dec. 18, 2015) – Cumming, an international project management and cost consulting firm, announced today it has rehired Derek Hutchison to serve as Executive Vice President based in New York City. Hutchison will be responsible for driving growth and leading Cumming’s East Coast U.S. operations and worldwide hospitality sector.

Hutchison provides leadership in the areas of project and program management, cost management, lender services and project controls. Hutchison has extensive experience across all asset classes and has a proven track record of adding value at all stages of the project life cycle from acquisition, design, construction and beyond. He has led teams on developments and transactions across the United States, South and Central America, the United Kingdom, and throughout Europe.

Before returning to Cumming, Hutchison was Vice President of Construction and Development at Starwood Capital Group, a leading private investment firm with a primary focus on global real estate. While at Starwood Capital Group, he oversaw numerous high-profile projects, including the development of the award-winning Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York, One Brooklyn Bridge Park and Pierhouse, among many others.

Hutchison, a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), earned a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland and throughout his two decades in the industry, he has participated in the development of more than 150 projects, including major hotel, resort, timeshare, high-end residential and multi-family properties.
