Cumming Group was commissioned to provide specialist advisory services for the Coomacheo Wind Farm in County Cork, working with Kennedys Solicitors on behalf of insurers Royal Sun Alliance. 

Following completion of the wind farm, which comprised eighteen 2.3MW turbines, a third-party review identified deterioration in the turbine foundations and deficiencies in the original design. The approved remedial solution involved encasing each base with a new reinforced concrete slab, poured in ring-shaped sections and connected to the existing foundation using post-tensioned circumferential tendons. 

This engagement led to similar assignments at two additional sites: 

• Bindoo, County Cavan – 32 wind turbines 
• Bessy Bell, County Tyrone – 6 wind turbines 

Our work provided technical, commercial, and risk management support to resolve foundation issues and ensure the long-term structural integrity of the wind farms.
