Cumming Group was commissioned to provide strategic risk management services to develop a permanent solution for managing traffic queuing on the M20 during periods of disruption caused by adverse weather, industrial action, or incidents at the Port of Dover and the Eurotunnel. 

The options under consideration included the construction of dedicated lorry parks and the implementation of technology-based traffic management systems to divert and control vehicle flow. Key challenges included the M20’s proximity to major ports, densely populated areas, and designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
