Southern Resilience Scheme
Cumming Group provided Cost Management and contract administration services for the Southern Resilience Scheme for Bristol Water, a project designed to improve the security of water supply for approximately 280,000 people across the supply area.
The scheme included the construction of a 30km ductile iron main of 600mm and 700mm diameters, installed predominantly in fields using open-cut and directional drilling techniques, as well as utilising an existing former railway tunnel currently serving as a cycle and pedestrian route.
Additional works included the upgrade of the existing SRO at Cheddar Treatment Works, involving new pumps, associated pipework, surge protection systems, secondary chlorination, electrical upgrades, and ICA works. The scheme is one of the largest projects in Bristol Water’s history.
