LOS ANGELES – (July 24, 2013) – Cumming, an international project management and  cost consulting firm, announced today it will be providing construction management services for  the new 90,000-square-foot Glendale Community College Lab College Services Building.  The estimated $39 Million project is expected to be finished within 24 months after  commencement of construction, with anticipated student occupancy in Fall 2015. The project,  designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, also includes the demolition of the nearby Los  Robles Building, reconfiguring the adjacent parking lot and the development of a new student  plaza.

“The new Lab College Services Building will centralize student services departments including  Admissions and Records, Counseling, and Financial Aid offices and address the growing needs of  the campus,” said Lisa Sachs, Managing Principal at Cumming.

The new three-story Lab College Services Building will contain lecture classrooms, speech and  writing labs, computer labs and an anthropology lab. The building will also house the Culinary  Arts Food Service Program and provide additional space for faculty offices and student services.  Cumming’s Karl Aldridge will serve as the on-the-ground project manager overseeing the day-today  project development through occupancy. Aldridge will be supported by Cumming’s Los  Angeles corporate office. Glendora-based NTD is the project’s designer.

“We are delighted to work with Cumming on the development of the new Lab College Services  Building,” said Nelson Oliveira, Jr., Director of Facilities and Construction at Glendale Community  College. “The team is very responsive and consistently delivers project assignments, promptly  and accurately.”

Cumming has been providing program, project, and construction management services for  California education clients for nearly 20 years, during which time the firm has worked on more  than 600 public and private community college and university projects. Currently, Cumming is  serving as College Project Manager for bond programs at Los Angeles Community College  District’s L.A. Southwest College and West L.A. College – totaling more than $800 million in  combined value. Cumming also managed the $36 million LEED platinum student housing facility  project for Pitzer College, one of seven Claremont area colleges, which was completed on time  and within budget. This project later won the Sustainability Award from the City of Claremont.
