The Port Royal Club, one of the priciest communities in the region — the average home price is more than $16 million — is moving forward with a repair and renovation project of its clubhouse post-Hurricane Ian.

Lehrer Cumming, a division of the international construction consultancy Cumming Group, has been hired to manage “the massive rebuild,” according to a statement. Lehrer Cumming, the release adds, is a project management and owner advisory firm that offers strategic guidance to owners, developers and institutions. A price for the project wasn’t disclosed.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Lehrer Cumming on this project,” The Port Royal Club President Ted Rorer says in the statement. “The community has high expectations for this wonderful new Clubhouse, and we are confident that Lehrer Cumming, and specifically their Senior Vice President Bill Flemming, will ensure the work gets done properly.”

As project manager, Flemming will oversee the rebuild by coordinating activities between the architect, general contractor and designers at Port Royal, on 2900 Gordon Drive. Lehrer Cumming and Flemming are currently working on the redevelopment of the Naples Beach Club. Past projects, the release states, include The Surf Club, La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach, Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables, Williams Island Club in Aventura and Flash Brook Golf Course’s clubhouse in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

The Port Royal Club was established in 1959.
