Lake Oswego-based PlanB Consultancy and its 60 workers have joined Cumming, an international construction consultancy.

The deal, characterized as a merger in a Monday announcement, broadens the reach of the larger, Los Angeles-based company, which is privately held.

Cumming, which specializes in cost and project management, has nearly 1,000 workers across outposts in the United States, United Kingdom and elsewhere abroad. PlanB provides cost management and quantity surveying services for data centers, chip makers and others in tech. It was founded in 2006.

“PlanB’s strong quantity surveying and project controls focus aligns perfectly with Cumming’s capabilities and broadens our reach in this critical, high-growth sector,” Derek Hutchison, president at Cumming, said in the announcement.

“The natural cultural match with the PlanB team allows us to stay true to our core values while executing our robust long-term growth strategy,” Hutchison said.

Euan Pollock, PlanB managing partner, underscored how the partnership will let it offer clients more expertise while giving workers more career opportunities.

“We have long held the belief that Cumming would be the ideal strategic partner based on our cultural alignment, the firm’s outstanding international reputation, and its focus on being a true owner’s advocate,” Pollock said in the announcement.

PlanB’s team will work under its current management structure, Cumming said.
