DENVER – June 21, 2018 – Project One Integrated Services, a Denver-based project management firm, has kicked off construction for the Adaptive Sports Center’s (ASC) new 25,000-square foot Kelsey Wright Building located at the base of the popular Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

In August 2016, the non-profit purchased the Outpost Building at the ski resort’s base area and earlier this year, construction crews began to demolish the property’s aging structure to make way for the ASC’s new state-of-the-art facility. The new building will double the nonprofit’s current program square footage and will be ideally situated for winter offerings with its ski-in, ski-out access. Key elements for the ASC’s new Kelsey Wright Building will include:

  • A quiet sensory room and private participant assessment space
  • Equipment modification and fit-up area
  • Adaptive climbing wall
  • Onsite kitchen for formal food service
  • Participant resource library, meeting room and classroom space
  • Rooftop deck and picnic area
  • Administrative workstations and offices
  • Participant housing and locker rooms

“Partnering with the Adaptive Sports Center team on this amazing new addition to the base of Mt. Crested Butte ski area has been very rewarding and fulfilling,” Jack Christensen, Project Director at Project One. “The care and passion they demonstrate with each and every one of their clients is reflective in the commitment they have for this project.  This project will provide more relevant and functional spaces for their programs and allow them to further perpetuate their mission and vision in a state of the art facility for years to come.”

The new building’s architectural elements and accessible design will allow for better program flow and increased staff efficiency. The facility layout will be better suited for the those with disabilities, allowing the nonprofit to provide more efficient programs, spend more time in the field, and ultimately create a better experience for its participants.

The new Kelsey Wright Building will also allow the ASC to meet the continued increase in demand for its adaptive sports programming. The ASC plans to significantly increase its available programs in the coming years, and based on current growth patterns, the new facility will give the ASC the ability to surpass 10,000 activities annually.

Experts in project management services, Project One will oversee the multi-phased construction program on behalf of the ASC to help ensure a transparent on-schedule and on-budget construction process. The new facility is scheduled to open its doors and begin providing programs during summer 2019.
