How did you learn about our internship program?
I learned about the internship through [Cumming Senior Consultant] Mike Jensen when I was coming out of my second year of college.
How did you learn about the AEC industry?
Also Mike Jensen! It seemed like he was doing well for himself, so I wanted to see where I could take myself in this industry.
What are hoping to achieve with your internship?
I am hoping to gain a better understanding of the estimating process start to finish. I am also trying to understand the role of project estimator by participating in some of the tasks that project managers go through with each project.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently doing takeoff for a Kaiser Permanente hospital in San Marcos. I am also doing project management work for a multi-family, two-tower apartment complex that will provide affordable housing for families and students located near SDSU’s campus in San Diego.
What are your career goals for the future?
I hope to continue working within the construction industry, where I can apply knowledge that I have already learned in my previous internships with Cumming as well as what I have learned at my college, Chico state. My current plan is to work with Cumming as a cost manager or a project manager once I graduate this coming December.
What is your favorite part of your internship with Cumming Group thus far?
My favorite part about Cumming is the sense of community as well as the culture that the people at Cumming all share.
