Newberry County Set to Kick Off Next Phase of Much Needed Repairs

Newberry, S.C. – Jan. 10, 2018 – Cumming, an international project management and cost consulting firm, began work on several assignments under the Capital Project Sales Tax (CPST) Program in Newberry County earlier this winter. Providing construction management services, Cumming’s South Carolina team will focus on six high-priority renovation and repair projects for the County totaling $6,355,000, which will include three larger scale assignments.

Experts in project, cost and construction management, Cumming’s South Carolina team has served the region since 1988 and will oversee the critical renovation projects to make sure the County’s program stays within budget and adheres to the 18-month timeline.

The three large-scale projects will include major renovations and improvements at Newberry County’s Detention Center and Library Museum, as well as mechanical updates at the local Opera House.  Project specifics, include:

• Newberry County Detention Center – a new roof, ceilings, plumbing, mechanical, and the addition of an outdoor exercise area, as well as environmental abatement
• Newberry County Library Museum – a new elevator addition along with a third level mezzanine, and a complete renovation of the existing interior spaces
• Newberry County Opera House – replacement of the existing mechanical equipment
