This essential expansion provided a four-story, 198,000-sq.-ft. pavilion containing additional space for the emergency department, outpatient surgery facilities, radiation/oncology, and inpatient capacity. Physician office space, a cardiology center, and a 450-car parking garage and walkway to the expansion were also included.

The $105 million project required extensive planning for budget and schedule. The project was initially delayed by the corporate office, who required cost-saving measures be taken. Cumming Group was hired to lead a thorough value engineering and budgeting process to meet these goals. A detailed budget and expenditure plan was developed and presented. Based on Cumming Group’s value engineering and budgeting services, the project was approved to begin.

Construction activities were coordinated around the facility’s 24/7 operations, including the emergency department. The project was completed ahead of schedule and approximately $2 million under budget.
