Berklee College of Music is a private college located in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world. The mission of Berklee is to educate, train, and develop students to excel in music as a profession.

Based on the projected growth of key departments, Berklee initiated a project to optimize their existing footprint and renovate select spaces to accommodate future demand. The required upgrades impacted many occupied spaces in two adjoining buildings on Boylston Street. Given that the work would take place during the school year and within occupied areas, the work was completed in phases to minimize disruption to daily operations.

The facilities group at Berklee engaged Fort Point, A Cumming Group Company, to manage all aspects of the improvements and transition of functions. This included planning and move management for 150 people and oversight of select vendors including integrating existing and new furniture into the new layout. Fort Point managed the scheduling, procurement, and onsite supervision for all five move phases required to accommodate the faculty and staff schedules.

The final space provided Berklee with enhanced collaboration between teams, while providing a new contemporary look to the Berklee College of Music, thereby modernizing their Boston presence. The project was completed in May 2022, to the full satisfaction of the client.
