Graland Country Day School, Corkins Center, Denver, CO
The Corkins Center project included demolition of the existing Jones building and construction of a new facility that connects to the existing Gates Middle School. The building serves as a new main entry for visitors to campus by means of a welcoming lobby with an entrance at Clermont Street. In addition to providing a more secure and welcoming entry point to campus, it houses the Learning Commons, which has library and technology functions, science classrooms, an innovation lab, and a “treehouse” feature. The project also included the renovation of Gates Middle School to allow for the buildings to be connected, as well as reconfiguration of some of the middle school classrooms. The Corkins Center is a multi-level, 44,775-sq.-ft. structure. Graland Country Day School is a private school serving students in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, and middle school. Cumming provided project management services.
