Cumming Group was selected to lead the development of Long Beach Unified School District’s first District-wide Sustainability Plan. The project consists of the development of a long-range sustainability plan and energy master plan, including goals, strategies, metrics, and ongoing monitoring systems. Development of current and future initiatives for energy efficiency, renewable energy programs, transportation decarbonization, electrification, water use reduction, and water saving practices, Green building practices including building electrification, identification of sustainable school materials; development and implementation of K-12 environmental education and literacy program; waste reduction and recycling; food waste compost and organic waste recovery; campus greening and urban forestry and school garden programs. Cumming Group is also facilitating engagement with District stakeholders and advisory groups to develop and monitor plan development and implementation.
