Cumming Group manages the Port’s Environmental Management System (EMS) for operational best practices that help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations; continual improvement; and pollution prevention. This effort includes maintaining an EMS at the Construction and Maintenance Division. Using ISO 14001 provides assurance to internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved. Using the ISO 14001 framework of Plan>Do>Check>Act, the EMS builds on the Ports Environmental Policy to synchronize operational best practices with the larger environmental goals and helps to increase employee awareness on how they can reduce their impact on the environment.
