Cumming performed cost estimating services for Saddleback College’s new three-story, interdisciplinary science complex, which comprises 83,500 sq. ft. and includes 26 modern laboratory spaces for academic and research programs in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, marine science, and physics. The facility also houses an observatory and greenhouse, along with shared support space, offices, and teaching and meeting areas. The design incorporated numerous sustainable features, such as an onsite retention system that collects and transfers stormwater to a demonstration garden. The project was completed in 2016 and achieved LEED Gold certification.
