The United States Golf Association (USGA) advanced plans to develop a seven-acre campus in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The project includes three buildings with views of the historic Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, which is set to host twelve 12 future U.S. Open championships.

Golf House Pinehurst features the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame, which provides a combined visitor center and museum with specialty interactive exhibits. The program also includes offices, a turf grass laboratory, and an advanced golf equipment testing center – the only one of its kind in North America. An outdoor learning landscape, with native plants and pollinator habitats, contributes to expanding awareness of the USGA’s sustainability initiatives.

The project is part of a larger economic development initiative and involved close coordination with a variety of local agencies to navigate the public approvals and funding requirements. Independent studies estimate that the USGA’s long-term presence in Pinehurst will generate over $2 billion in economic activity for the state of North Carolina.

Zubatkin, a Cumming Group Company, collaborated with the USGA across the initial site selection, master planning, design, approvals, and construction of Golf House Pinehurst. The team also managed the consultant selection and maintained the project controls, reporting, and administration.

Zubatkin has served as a trusted advisor to the USGA since 2002. Previous projects for its New Jersey location include the renovation and expansion of the USGA Museum, development of its administrative headquarters, and significant landscape improvements across the 230-acre campus. The USGA’s official headquarters and the Golf Museum and Library will continue to operate in Liberty Corner, New Jersey.
