What achievements are you most proud of?

During my time at my preceding consulting firm, I was an influential colleague in collaborating with senior executives to strategically position the firm across the greater west coast. I actively attended industry events and conferences and took an active role in organizations like SMPS. At SMPS I served as programs lead, where I produced live educational programs for our paid members. One of our signature events was Creative Minds. This was a month-long virtual event with four expert-taught workshops covering writing, design, visual assets, and career development. During the calendar year I also helped lead 8-9 other staple events that incorporated different thought leaders from A/E/C and other industries to provide a robust program cadence.

I was also given the opportunity to moderate and produce a live webinar with five panelists on industry design trends including remote workforces, virtual environments, trends occurring in response to COVID, touchless technologies and environments, and “What’s Next” for the AEC industry. Furthermore, I led a breakout discussion where attendees could have more intimate conversations about these trends. This webinar brought in a nationwide audience of potential new clients and existing clients to engage with the firm.

In addition, I am proud to have brainstormed and tirelessly collaborated on a notable project with UC Davis Health. Our pursuit approach was a full hands-on attitude, bringing in collective thought leaders within the company to fully understand the needs of this client and how to best position our team and firm. In the end, our firm won the UCD 48X Complex (also known as the ambulatory surgery center) and I am proud to say I had a pivotal part in the process. The project is currently well underway, and when it is finished, the center aims to enhance capacity to accommodate growth and free up inpatient resources, while also improving the patient experience by reducing wait times for elective procedures and expanding surgical service lines and therapies.

Although I am extremely proud of all these achievements, I am largely appreciative of the many clients and industry relationships I have developed over the years in the Bay Area and the larger Northwest region. I take pride in my ability to engage and build relationships and I am very excited to see where this next phase of my career brings me at Cumming Group.

Who is most influential to you?

The most influential person in my life is my mother. She is the person who has shown me what It means to work hard and to take pride in what you do. Coming from a single-parent household, things weren’t always easy, but her resiliency and tenacity showed through in her work ethic. She has been someone who has shown me first-hand what it takes to become successful at what she does.  Everything I am in a man is thanks to her. She taught me to never stop and to try everything once to see what I wanted. She provided the means and opportunity to go to college and the opportunity to make something of myself here in SF. Her enate ability to connect with anyone in the room showcases her charisma and personality beautifully. I can proudly say, “I got it from my mama!”

Anything else you’d like to add?

Fun fact – my mother and I share the same love and enthusiasm for music and have gone to Coachella together 3 years in a row. I can honestly say she has more stamina than me! Though it might just be something in the Mullin gene pool.
