We’d like to welcome Sarah Dudek to our Chicago team! Sarah has over 15 years of construction management experience and has supervised numerous projects in the Chicago area for major brands including Planet Fitness, Best Buy, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Joffco Square, Fifth Third Bank, and Martini Park, to name a few.
As Senior Project Manager, Sarah will work closely with the Chicago team to provide project management services for our clients in Chicago and the surrounding areas. We’re happy to have her on board!
How long have you been working in the construction industry?
I’ve been in construction in one capacity or another since I left high school, usually in the field. However, if you want to go even further back, I knew I wanted to work in construction ever since my carpenter uncle put a hammer in my hand when I was four years old to keep me busy while he was on the jobsite.
What brought you to Cumming?
My family recently moved back to Chicago after seven years in Pittsburgh and I wanted to join a team again on the owner’s side rather than working on my own. After quite a bit of research, I found Cumming to hold all of the same values that I find most important when providing construction and project management services for my clients.
What advice would you give to those in the A/E/C industry?
To remember that we have the greatest job in the world. We get to come to work every day and collaborate with some of the most talented and interesting people on the planet, all of whom have the most diverse gifts, yet we work as a team to put the puzzle pieces together into a very tangible, very real product that we can walk through, live in, and drive through, and that will exist for years, perhaps millennia.
What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
Building a company from scratch into a successful project management/owner’s rep firm during the recession; moving to a brand new city and having to do it all over again despite knowing absolutely no one and having no contacts; and moving back to Chicago and starting again!
